It was a bookish Christmas in south town. Our new reads include
James Patterson, Wendy Mass, Raina Telgemeier, Harry
Potter, and Suzanne Nelson. My personal favorite, The Little Prince. So much
that I had to stop reading because I didn't want the book to be over. Have you ever done that? After
seeing the movie on Netflix, I discovered the French author and pilot, Antoine de

Things You didn't Know About The Little Prince
Christmas is over and it's time to take down our decorated delightfully smelling Nordman tree. While some procrastinate, others are specific on when the tree comes down. For us it's tradition to take it down a few days after Christmas. But to some it's superstition. Like if you don't take your tree down by New Year's Eve, your bringing baggage into the new year. But I'm not superstitious, just ready to bring in the New Year!
It 79 degrees here and I long for a cozy reading experience.
So tonight I'll make my grandmothers spiced tea, drop the ac, and wrap
myself in a fluffy blanket. In case you didn't know, I intend on moving to
Japan or Colorado after I sell 1 million copies of my book. #lovesnow

The snowbirds arrived on Thanksgiving
and this means winter is here. When geese start to show up, so do the other
“snowbirds” or winter Texans with their RVs. At Whataburger this morning, the
seniors were attacking the free coffee. This happens when you live in a touristy kinda place.
But what a spectacular sight!
I spent Black Friday and the rest of
the weekend eating leftovers and searching graphic novels for my 4th grade
reader. In case you haven’t seen, graphic novels are everywhere!
My girl has always read Japanese books or Manga. The attraction being,
they tell fascinating stories and read backwards, or right to left. Also, most
adults can’t easily read them.
But now the comic world has crossed
into mainstream books. My college kids and elementary reader can’t seem to put
them down. I never read comics as a kid and personally not into them.
But children are drawn to visual media these days, so this doesn’t
surprise me. And who knows, maybe Pixie will be sucked in a
graphic novel on one of her upcoming journeys.
I will say that graphic
novels have got kids reading. And what a great tool for pushing along
reluctant readers. But most of the elementary teachers and librarians I’ve talked to haven't joined the graphic novel bandwagon. Mainly because they don’t make good classroom read-alouds or
guided readings. And kids are leaving the school library
bookless when the graphic novels are checked out. There are both pros and cons
here, but as long as children are getting a well balanced literary diet,
they’ll continue to grow as readers.

Thought it fitting to spend this chilly day giving reason to why I’m breaking up with Word Press. What was I thinking? I went against my gut feeling and bought into the advice of you need to move over to WordPress. “It’s what all the serious bloggers use.” they said. “It’ll give you all the latest plug-ins.” they said.
I love writing for children and don’t have time to spend figuring out the Word Press platform. Or the money to pour into the latest gadget &widgets.
Why I like Blogger.
· You are calm and collected.
Why I don't like WordPress.
· You are not user friendly and don’t work well with others.
I’m sorry Word Press, it’s over. I’m leaving you and going back to my ex.
